Making Progress in Haiti
Good afternoon, I’m Ralph.I’m here to speak about what this community is doing in Haiti. And you are doing some good stuff. When I was there last September, I saw the progress you are making. I saw the difference you are making in the lives of the villagers in Boileau, Haiti. Imagine for a moment, flying over a land of rolling hillsides – but
these hillsides have no vegetation, greenery or life. There are miles and
miles of metal sheets leaning against stakes to provide shelter. Children

This past February I was fortunate enough to share a trip to Haiti with several
members of our parish. Since this was the second trip I had taken to Haiti,
I felt prepared for what I might experience. What I found, however, is that
God has a way of opening our eyes to things He wants you to see. read more »
This past February a group from St. Philip’s set off for the fourth
pilgrimage to Haiti. As in past years we visited several operations that
are helping the poorest of the poor. At each orphanage and school there
was one thing consistent among the people we met –they were eager

We get things backwards quite often, in our good intentions, in our security,
in our way of life. We hear the admonition to give of ourselves, give our
10% tithe, perform our works of mercy and our acts of charity. We listen
to the Gospel (you know, the one so often read on Christ the King Sunday
just before the Advent shopping season begins and we get in the Christmas
spirit through buying things we don’t need and eating food that makes
our clothes too tight) about the sheep and the goats and feeding Christ
