Flooding in Boileau - need food

Six weeks after the earthquake and more than 50 aftershocks later, unexpected torrential rains have flooded the South-western section of the island, to include Boileau.  Les Cayes and Cavaillon are cities close to Boileau.  Water on the streets has been waist-high in these cities.  Father Kensy reports that many of the villagers in Boileau, our adopted village, have had their homes and gardens destroyed.  Some of the livestock (pigs and goats) were washed away since they had no warning about the amount of rain to prepare for.  More than 100 people had to come to the second-story rooms of school as a refuge.  Water rose to cover the floors of the classrooms on the lower level.  Two deaths were reported.

We’ve sent money to Father Kensy for some emergency relief.  Also, we are working with Food For the Poor to see if container-loads of food can be delivered to the Cavaillon and Boileau area.  Many depleted all their on-hand food and have already been without food for a couple days.
